What is the objective of the Young Professionals Council?

To identify and engage Young Professionals with a desire to combine personal interests with community-strengthening work that aligns with the mission and focus areas (Basic Needs, Classroom Readiness, Workforce Readiness) of the United Way of the Midlands.

What is the purpose and composition of the group?

To unite Young Professionals with similar philanthropic interest to channel their skills and talents into making long lasting systemic positive change in our community.

Young Professionals involved in the council are those identified as emerging leaders in our community. They are individuals with a passion for giving back to the community by sharing their time, talents and treasure.

What are the membership requirements?

  • Attend and actively participate in meetings, projects and social events. YPC Socials support membership and awareness to the initiatives we support
  • Contribute to the United Way of the Midlands campaign. ($250+) Contributions can be made by the individual or supporting employer
  • YPC members promote the mission during your company’s annual United Way campaign
  • Join a YPC Committee, to include: Community Outreach, Member Development, Special Events, and Communications

What are the benefits of becoming a member?

  • Individual personal growth opportunities (public speaking, leadership skills, project management…)
  • An opportunity to be part of positive sustainable change.
  • Provides strong corporate and community networking opportunities with other young professionals.
  • For the company, it gives your organization insight and a voice into local issues.
