2018-2020 UWM Community Investment Process

2018-2020 UWM Community Investment Process

As part of our continued effort to serve the most vulnerable members of our community, United Way of the Midlands (UWM) invites non-profit 501(c)(3) agencies to respond to a Request for Proposal (RFP) for our 2018-2020 Community Investments. To be considered, agencies should be working to reduce the impact of poverty through programs that address crisis intervention, health, education and financial stability. UWM is accepting proposals for programs within Douglas, Sarpy and Pottawattamie counties.

UWM is committed to investing in programs beginning July 1, 2018, for a two-year cycle ending June 30, 2020. The two-year investment cycle is intended to create a foundation so that programs can begin the process of continuously improving and tracking outcomes over time. However, second-year investments are contingent upon the annual availability of funds raised and adherence to all requirements in the grant agreement.

UWM is particularly interested in programs that:

  • enhance efficiencies
  • collaborate with other organizations
  • measure success
  • incorporate prevention strategies
  • apply an integrated approach
  • remove barriers to service access

A diverse group of community volunteers and subject matter experts will work with UWM staff to make investment recommendations to the UWM Board of Directors.

The review process ensures accountability to those who make contributions to UWM, including donor participants in the fall fundraising drive currently underway. The programs selected for investment will receive support from July 1, 2018, through June 30, 2020.

The application deadline is January 17, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. Central Time (late applicants will not be accepted). Awards will be announced by May 23, 2018.

UWM will host five grant application informational sessions, open to all interested agencies:
