Change Doesn’t Just Happen. It’s Created Together.

Change Doesn’t Just Happen. It’s Created Together.

The last few years have been challenging for our community. Many people are struggling to afford groceries, make up for the learning lost during pandemic school interruptions, and recover from natural disasters and the pandemic.

But we know individuals can change the world, and United Way’s superpower is bringing people together to make positive, lasting change. For example, here in the Omaha – Council Bluffs metro, United Way of the Midlands (UWM) will provide more than four million services to address social and economic disparities in the areas of essential needs, education and financial stability throughout our metro.

By working together with our partners, experts, community leaders and residents — United Way looks at the toughest problems and is thoughtful about local solutions that work best for our community.

UWM makes it easy for you to take meaningful action that truly makes a difference. That can be volunteering with a program that helps those struggling to shift the odds; advocating for increased access to mental health training by joining a leadership group like Women United; or investing in solutions that are showing results through our Community Care Fund.

And we *are* seeing positive results. Over the last year, UWM and the donors, volunteers and advocates who’ve joined us have made an impact. Consider that in the last year we:

  • Served 18,000 children through out-of-school-time, mentoring and other supportive academic programs
  • Provided more than 214,000 behavioral and physical health services with 77% of clients achieving measurable improvements
  • Provided employment, credit or budgeting services to nearly 18,000 people

Positive change is happening. But it doesn’t just “happen.” Change is created together.

We want our community to be a resilient, equitable community that offers opportunities for everyone to thrive. And we know we can make it happen, together.

People like YOU are the ones who make change happen, so why not get started today?
