Prior to joining United Way, Schwalb was an associate professor, teaching graduate and undergraduate students at Clarkson College and College of Saint Mary, in multiple areas including finance, economics, organizational behavior and leadership.

Schwalb received her PhD in human sciences with a concentration in leadership from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She also holds a master’s degree in business administration and a bachelor of science degree in accounting.
