Rent assistance in Omaha after the eviction moratorium ends

The eviction moratorium from the coronavirus pandemic is set to expire Saturday, July 31.

The moratorium was put into place last year to provide help to families who were financially affected by the pandemic.

It prevented them from being evicted from their homes for nonpayment.

If you need assistance paying your rent there are ways to get rent assistance after the moratorium is over.

United Way has several programs to help families in need.

Eddie Clark from United Way spoke to Fox42 in a previous interview and said

“Some of the things that we do is work with the community partners in Omaha

United Way is one of the programs that can help with rent assistance and their website gives information on different programs to meet your needs.

Each program has different qualifications and requirements. The application and details for the programs are on the website.

It is advised to call their 211 helpline for more assistance or you can click here to go do directly to their website.

Other programs include Together, INC and Metro Area Continuum of Care for the Homeless (MACCH).

The city of Omaha also has assistance programs and Douglas County Board of Commissioners will discuss funding for those programs on Wednesday.

When filling out the applications for any assistance program be sure to follow all directions and have all of the required paperwork.
