When you reach out to 211 our specialists are trained to understand your overall needs, not just the issue you reached out about, and will help connect you to resources for those needs too.

Lloyd’s Story

Lloyd is 81 years old and lives in Omaha. He’s on a fixed income, so unexpected expenses are difficult for him to manage. When his water heater went out, he dialed 2-1-1 to see if there was anyone who could help him. 211 specialists connected him to a program that replaced his water heater and even helped him take care of some other small home repairs too!

Margaret’s Story

Margaret dialed 2-1-1 after finding out that her husband had colon and liver cancer. He was about to start chemotherapy, and she was worried about the bills piling up. A 211 specialist helped her find:

1. Local resources that could help her financially,

2. Where she could learn more about his cancer and diagnosis, and

3. Local support groups.

Sherry’s Story

Sherry just moved to Omaha from Texas with a new baby. While she had found a job and an apartment she liked, with moving expenses she couldn’t afford both the deposit and the first month’s rent. Sherry called 2-1-1 and explained her situation to a specialist, who was able to enroll her in an assistance program that helped cover her deposit. Now she and her new baby are getting settled in their safe and stable home.
