A Letter from Our Board Chair and CeO

United Way friends and supporters,

Even as poverty is decreasing in the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro, disparities remain. We’re discovering that some barriers are entrenched and new challenges keep emerging. But as the needs in our community continue to evolve – the incredible generosity of our neighbors in the metro is making a meaningful difference.

In a true testament to the caring spirit that runs deep in our community – we were able to raise more than $40 million this past fiscal year. Powered by our 2022 Campaign Chairs, Terri and Tim Burke, and thanks to the thoughtful guidance of our amazing Board of Directors – we know we will keep growing in the right direction.

Thanks to this leadership, United Way of the Midlands has continued to build strong partnerships and deliver results when we face hard times. By working with organizations across our community who share our commitment to making a difference, we are funding impactful programs and offering direct services where they are needed most.

Since our beginning in 1923, United Way of the Midlands (UWM) has been bringing together individuals, businesses and nonprofits to help those who need assistance in the metro area. We focus on addressing social and economic disparities and meeting families’ essential needs such as healthy food, safe and stable housing, physical and mental health services, career preparation, job training and so much more.

As we look forward to another year of helping others, we know we’ll be able to address the challenges ahead with the support of generous community members like you.

We are grateful for your partnership.
