volunteerism at work

Foster team spirit and connection through hands-on volunteering

We come to you to build care kits for local nonprofits to distribute.

This program matches skills-based volunteer requests with those who have the expertise and experience needed.

Connect with caring people and support essential programs
that keep our community strong.

Day of Caring

September 11, 2026 | Nonprofit locations across the metro

A single day of service where individual volunteers and volunteer teams spend their day making a difference at local
nonprofits to fulfill a variety of needs – from painting, meal service and yard work to everything in between.

National Volunteer Week

April 18-24, 2027 | Corporate and nonprofit partners across the metro

National Volunteer Week celebrates the impact of volunteer efforts and the power of community. During this week we hold five Good on the Go events, one for each weekday, to provide agency partners with the essentials they need. Volunteer opportunities at nonprofit partners throughout the metro are also posted, so individuals can come together in the spirit of service to make an impact during the full month of April, which is Global Volunteer Month.

Shine Bright

July 28-31, 2026 | Mid-America Center

Volunteers help assemble nearly 5,000 hygiene kits with full-sized items that are distributed to public schools throughout
the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro, and to Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) classrooms across Nebraska.

winter warm-up

December 7, 2026 | Gifford Park elementary school

The Winter Warm-Up project was created following a request from Omaha Public Schools (OPS) to partner with United
Way of the Midlands to address the need they were seeing for sustainable winter gear for a number of their students.

HOLIDAY HELPERS

November 1 - December 30, 2026 | Nonprofit locations across the metro

Each year from November – December, Holiday Helpers showcases the reason for the season by supporting agency
programs during a critical time of year through supply drives, volunteer projects and more.
