RECOGNIZING EXCELLENCE

We recognize this year’s Citizens of the Year and our Corporate Partner Award winners for going above and beyond to help our neighbors in need during the 2024-2025 campaign.

JACK & STEPHANIE KORALESKI

2025 Citizens of the year Award

Jack & Stephanie Koraleski were named Citizens of the Year for their commitment and dedication to our community.

In the spring of 1972, Jack and Stephanie Koraleski were in
planning mode: planning their wedding, planning new careers
after college and planning to start their new life together outside
of Omaha. Now almost 54 years later, they realize planning may
not be their strongest attribute.
An unexpected offer from Union Pacific quickly led to Jack
accepting a job – launching a 43 ½- year career that started as
a financial analyst in what was called the Traffic Department
and ended as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer
of Union Pacific Corporation. Along the way, that journey had
stops as Controller of Union Pacific Corporation, Executive Vice
President – Marketing and Sales, Chief Financial Officer – Union
Pacific Railroad and Executive Vice President – Finance and
Information Technology.
Recognizing the remarkable attributes of the Omaha community
and the importance of enhancing its future, Jack served on many
boards over the years, including Heritage Omaha, Creighton
University, The University of Nebraska Foundation, The Business
Ethics Alliance and Nebraska Methodist Hospital and Foundation.
He currently chairs the board of Omaha Performing Arts, is
Vice Chair of the OPA Foundation and serves as a Trustee of
Lauritzen Gardens. He is also a former chair and current member
of the UNO College of Business National Advisory Board where
he received both his undergraduate and MBA degrees.
Over the years, Jack has been recognized for his achievements
with the UNO College of Business Distinguished Alumni Award,
UNO Citation for Alumni Achievement, ICAN Advocate for
Women in Leadership, Methodist Hospital F. E. Borchers Award
for Community Service and he served as King of Ak-Sar-Ben CXIX.
