United Way of the Midlands (UWM) is proud to announce it has been awarded a grant of $40,000 from the U.S. Bank Foundation. The grant will support workforce readiness and housing stability programs funded through UWM’s Community Impact Fund.
“A skilled and resilient workforce benefits everyone, while safe stable housing gives families a starting point and helps communities thrive,” said Jesse Mamaril, community affairs manager at U.S. Bank. “By supporting organizations like United Way of the Midlands, we’re helping people build skills to succeed in their careers and helping families access affordable housing and work toward long-term stability.”
The Community Impact Fund is UWM’s historical model for investing – supporting essential community programs with a focus rooted in one of the four priority funding areas: Community Resiliency, Youth Opportunity, Financial Security and Healthy Community. Driven by the recommendations of area volunteers, this fund ensures that investments are aligned with local needs and priorities to create meaningful change in the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro.
“We are grateful for this impactful investment in our community and the continued participation of U.S. Bank and the U.S. Bank Foundation with UWM – including Joe Sullivan, senior vice president and business banking market leader, who serves on our board of directors,” said Shawna Forsberg, president and CEO of UWM. “Their support will play an important role in helping us create opportunities for individuals entering the workforce and helping families stay housed and stable across our community.”
