"Life's most persistent and urgent question is, what are you doing for others?" - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Together with community partners, United Way of the Midlands (UWM) commemorated and celebrated the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a Day of Service, bringing Good on the Go kit builds to two locations.
Good on the Go Kit Build & 4th Annual MLK Day Luncheon at the Highlander
More than 64 volunteers came together to assemble snack pack kits for the Heart Ministry Center.
Following the kit build, volunteers were treated to a meal from Big Mama’s Kitchen and Catering, with additional meals delivered to Black Men United for distribution.

The number of 64 volunteers was specifically selected to represent the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Nobel Peace Prize Dr. King was awarded the same year.
Good on the Go Kit Build at Nebraska Medicine and UNMC
Nebraska Medicine and the University of Nebraska Medical Center showed what it looks like to lead with service on MLK Day.
More than 70 volunteers came together at UNMC to assemble mindfulness kits for Charles Drew Health Center and OneWorld Community Health Center.
We hope everyone who participated is filled with immense pride. Your meaningful action on this National Day of Service will help thousands of individuals in our metro. It takes everyone, coming together to make a difference for our community.

Record-Breaking Impact
It was a record-breaking day for Good on the Go! With a combined total of 3,000 Good on the Go kits from both of the day’s events, it is the most kits built in one day since the beginning of the program at UWM.
