The Nebraska 211 Helpline, powered by United Way of the Midlands, is proud to introduce the Nebraska Save Our Seniors program. Save Our Seniors is a free and confidential program that empowers Nebraskans, aged 60 plus, to overcome hardships caused by abuse, neglect and/or financial exploitation. The program offers person-centered services and referrals using a statewide circle of support that allows seniors to remain independent.
Through the program, trained 211 Victim Assistance Navigators will help seniors navigate the physical, emotional, legal and financial consequences of crime. Nebraska’s seniors will receive emotional support and advocacy, information about systems, safety and rights information, support in developing next steps to regain safety and control of their lives and access to services tailored to their needs.
Funded by the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA), in partnership with the Nebraska Crime Commission, Save Our Seniors is intended to increase the reporting of elder abuse, simplify the search for existing resources that work for seniors, assist seniors until their needs are met and provide client assistance where appropriate.
Anyone needing assistance should dial 2-1-1 or text ‘NESOS’ to 898211 to communicate directly with a trained 211 Victim Assistance Navigator. Free and confidential assistance is available 24/7, 365 days a year, in over 240 languages using the tele-interpreter service and bilingual staff.
