At United Way of the Midlands, our diverse donors, volunteers and staff all care deeply for this community and the people who live here. We understand there is great need across the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro, and an enduring urgency to come together. And with your support, we’re showing that united is the way to find strength and share hope. It’s the way we rally in hard times to meet people’s needs so they can rise back up and build a better future.
Unity is embedded in our name, but to us, it is much more than a word. It is a call to action. That’s why we don’t just talk about coming together — we put it into practice every day, working alongside partners, donors and community members to make a difference for individuals and families struggling to make ends meet. Our guiding principles set the tone for how we engage with one another. All UWM staff and volunteers are expected to uphold and demonstrate these values.
Through changing social, economic, financial and political conditions, UWM has continued to serve as a neutral convener for our community – setting a welcome table to share knowledge, foster collaboration and identify a path forward, together.
We welcome everyone — regardless of income, race, gender, sexual orientation, political or religious beliefs — to be part of the conversation. Meaningful dialogue among diverse voices has always been at the heart of our work, because in the end, we all share the same goal – a thriving community.
As we continue to look ahead, United Way will continue to show up for our metro — through crisis and recovery, through challenges and opportunities – we will actively listen and swiftly respond. We hope you’ll join us, and bring your generous and caring spirit to help create a stronger tomorrow.
At United Way of the Midlands, we foster a culture of respect across all lines of work, rooted in a shared commitment to improving conditions for individuals and families. We collaborate across sectors to meet immediate needs and help people grow and thrive, with work in the following impact areas:
