On August 5-8, the Mid-America Center was filled with excitement, joy, smiles, great energy and a lot of heart. Every child deserves to come to school feeling confident and ready to learn, but for so many this is not possible.
Many students across the metro are lacking essential hygiene items such as soap, shampoo, conditioner, clean clothes and dental products — impacting their health, learning and confidence.
Shine Bright kits are distributed to Omaha Public Schools, Council Bluffs Community Schools, Papillion La Vista Schools and Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) Nebraska sites.
During the event, we had 389 volunteers from 35 partners putting together boxes, setting out and organizing products, assembling and separating all of the kits based on grade, ethnicity, gender and school.

When a child is lacking essential hygiene items – it can be hard for them to focus on anything else. Helping students get access to the resources they lack allows them to build a better and brighter future for themselves and our community.
