On Saturday, May 9, 2026, letter carriers across the Omaha metro collected food donations from postal customers

  • More than 158,000 pounds of food collected = more than 131,000 meals for those in need
  • Donations benefited six local nonprofits
    - Heartland Family Service, Heartland Hope Mission, Salvation Army, Siena Francis, Stephen Center and St. Vincent de Paul
  • Nearly 200,000 bags were distributed by letter carriers to collect food
  • We are grateful to partner with the National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 5, Teamsters Local 554, Kemps, the United States Postal Service and the Omaha Federation of Labor AFL-CIO.

Thank you, Chuck Walls, for your leadership with Stamp Out Hunger

At this year’s UWM’s Volunteer Appreciation Award Winners Luncheon, Chuck Walls was presented with the award for Leadership in Action Volunteer of the Year for his decades of service to this program. As president of National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 5, he has encouraged participation in, coordinated distribution for, and secured sponsors for Stamp Out Hunger for 30 years. His efforts are instrumental in making the Omaha campaign one of the top in the country.
