In celebration of National Volunteer Week, April 19-25, United Way of the Midlands (UWM) is working with its corporate partners to provide their employees with an opportunity to give back by participating in a custom Good on the Go event at their workplace.
Through these events, these six local businesses will create more than 2,700 essential kits for local nonprofits. Participating organizations include:
April 20 – Goosmann Law – Snack Pack Kits for City Sprouts
April 21 – Werner® – Snack Pack Kits for Boys & Girls Club of the Midlands, Omaha ForUs, Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska and Brighten Our Future Early Learning Center
April 22 – The H + H Group – Snack Pack Kits for Kids Can Community Center
April 22 – Syngenta – Snack Pack Kits for Carole’s House of Hope
April 23 – Cobalt Credit Union – Hygiene Kits for Girls Inc.
April 24 – Bankers Trust – Outreach Kits for Women’s Center for Advancement (WCA)
UWM’s Good on the Go program gives teams the opportunity to work together to assemble kits for people in need at their office or another site. UWM orders and ships the needed supplies, coordinates the event and works to arrange the delivery of the kits to local nonprofit agencies.
“We’re proud to partner with businesses who share a deep commitment to volunteerism and giving back,” said Shawna Forsberg, UWM president and CEO. “Through Good on the Go and other volunteer efforts, we see the true spirit of service in action — teams coming together to support local nonprofits and strengthen our community.”
Celebrated the third full week of April, National Volunteer Week was created by Presidential Proclamation in 1974 to recognize volunteer impact and engage volunteers in service. To highlight the week, many UWM nonprofit partners are offering a variety of opportunities for people to get involved.
