Global Volunteer Month may have ended on April 30, but the spirit of giving back continues year-round. United Way of the Midlands (UWM) and WoodmenLife are coming together on Wednesday, May 13, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the WoodmenLife Tower to create 3,200 snack pack kits for distribution to the Eastern Nebraska Office on Aging (ENOA), Wakonda Elementary, Partnership 4 Kids and Open Door Mission.
The kit build represents the continued growth and momentum of UWM’s Good on the Go program, building on previous record-setting kit-building events with Lindsay Corporation and FNBO.
“We are proud to partner with United Way of the Midlands for this record-breaking Good on the Go event,” said WoodmenLife President & CEO Denise McCauley. “Building more than 3,000 snack packs is a powerful example of what can be accomplished when organizations come together around a shared commitment to helping others. This partnership reflects the best of WoodmenLife’s purpose and our ongoing focus on strengthening the neighborhoods we call home.”
UWM’s Good on the Go program gives teams the opportunity to work together at their office or another site to assemble kits that support local families and individuals. UWM orders and ships the needed supplies, coordinates the event and works to arrange the delivery of the kits to local nonprofit agencies.
“We’re thrilled to join together with organizations like WoodmenLife who share a deep commitment to volunteerism and giving back,” said Shawna Forsberg, UWM president and CEO. “Programs like Good on the Go create meaningful ways for employees to engage as teams, support local nonprofits and come together in service for our community.”
