Volunteers to Unite This Friday for United Way of the Midlands’ Annual Day of Caring

United Way of the Midlands (UWM) will host its annual Day of Caring volunteer event this Friday, September 15. In support of this day of service, hundreds of volunteers will be rolling up their sleeves and getting to work helping more than 35 nonprofit organizations across Douglas, Sarpy and Pottawattamie counties.

Held annually since 2001, UWM’s Day of Caring is a day of service where volunteers from across the community spend their day helping local nonprofits fulfill a variety of needs – from paperwork, painting, stocking food pantry shelves, building homes and yardwork to everything in between. Employee teams from local companies, as well as individual volunteers, will participate in about 68 volunteer projects across the metro area.

“We are so grateful to our corporate partners who provide time off for their employees, and to the hundreds of volunteers who share their time and talents on Day of Caring,” said Shawna Forsberg, president and CEO, United Way of the Midlands. “They make such a difference by providing much-needed help to vital nonprofit organizations in the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro.”

Some of the nonprofits hosting Day of Caring events include: City Sprouts, Completely Kids, Food Bank for the Heartland, Habitat for Humanity (Council Bluffs), Nebraska Diaper Bank, New Visions Homeless Services (Council Bluffs), Partnership for Kids, Siena Francis House, Together Inc. and many others.

Individuals or teams who would like to sign up and volunteer for UWM’s Day of Caring can register online at: UnitedWayMidlands.org/Volunteer.
