GOOD ON THE GO

Good on the Go is an opportunity for your team to address the demand for essential items our agency partners need to conduct their vital programing and support our neighbors’ needs. Your team selects from a variety of kits ranging from snack pack kits, to literacy kits, to hygiene kits, and many more. We work with you to identify an agency recipient. We create a budget for the project and order the materials for the kits, then we come to your office to have your team assemble the kits together. We can even invite the agency recipient to join us to share more about the impact of the kits to help families access the essentials they need to thrive.

UWM VOLUNTEER EVENTS

National Volunteer Week

National Volunteer Week occurs each April as an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the impact of volunteer service and the power of volunteers to tackle society’s greatest challenges, to build stronger communities and be a force that transforms the world. Volunteer opportunities are posted throughout the metro to come together in the spirit of service to make an impact.

Shine Bright

Shine Bright occurs annually before the start of each new school year to provide students with the hygiene essentials they need to feel good and build the confidence necessary to thrive in the classroom. During this event, volunteers help assemble over 5,000 hygiene kits that are distributed by social workers, school counselors and school nurses to local Kindergarten, sixth and ninth-grade students. The hygiene kits serve students in Omaha Public Schools, Council Bluffs Community Schools, Papillion-La Vista Schools, and Jobs for America’s Graduates classrooms across the state of Nebraska.

Day of Caring

Day of Caring is the day of service where volunteers from across the community spend their day helping local nonprofits fulfill a variety of needs – from yardwork to painting and everything in between. Local nonprofit organizations across Douglas, Sarpy and Pottawattamie counties host individual volunteers and employee teams to tackle projects and make a difference.

hOLIDAY heLPERS

Holiday Helpers takes place each year from November through the end of the year to support agency programs during a very challenging time of year for many in our community. From toy and diaper drives, to volunteer projects, and so much more, Holiday Helpers showcases the reason for the season.

TOCQUEVILLE SOCIETY

The Tocqueville Society of United Way of the Midlands was established in 1988 by twelve charter members whose vision and belief in the community spurred others to join and give. Thanks to the remarkable generosity of Tocqueville Society donors this past year, membership hit 373, surpassing a goal the Society had been striving toward for years. As a result of this achievement, Mr. Warren Buffett increased his match of United Way’s total campaign dollars, and thousands of additional dollars were invested into our community to help people facing challenges in the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro. Together, Tocqueville Society members are truly making a difference and ensuring the metro becomes stronger for the generations of tomorrow.
