Local labor union members to face off in the ring at blue collar boxing event

The Omaha Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO and United Way of the Midlands are hosting their annual Blue Collar Boxing event – presented by Limitless Male – on Wednesday, November 27, at Baxter Arena. The exciting action will kick off at 7 p.m., with 12 bouts on the fight card for the event.

During Blue Collar Boxing, 24 local labor union members will face off in the boxing ring for charity – with 100 percent of proceeds benefitting the Nebraska Center for Workforce Development and Education and United Way of the Midlands.

The competing boxers hail from 16 local labor unions: BCTGM 50, Bricklayers 15, Carpenters 1306, FOP Lodge 88, IBEW 22, Insulators 39, International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (I.A.T.S.E) Local 42, Ironworkers 21, IUEC 28, Laborers 1140, MUD 1525, Operators 571, Plumbers 16, Sheetmetal Workers 3, Sprinkler Fitters 669 and Steamfitters 464.

This year’s event will also spotlight those who have served or are currently serving in the U.S. military – with the final fight of the night featuring two current labor union members who are also veterans that served our country.

General admission tickets start at $27.25 and can be purchased at BlueCollarBoxing.org or the Baxter Arena box office.

Partners since 1941, the relationship between the Omaha AFL-CIO and United Way is built upon a mutual desire to create a better, stronger and more resilient community. Because of this shared commitment to the metro, the organizations created this amateur boxing event in 2019.

The atmosphere will be electric, the energy will be high and the arena will be rocking! For more information go to: BlueCollarBoxing.org.
