OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Over 1,000 volunteers were up for the task Friday, helping out those in need around Omaha and Council Bluffs.
United Way of The Midlands held its 17th Annual Day of Caring.
Volunteers were spread out around 44 agencies, working on 90 different projects.
The helping hands painted, did some landscaping and anything else local non-profits needed.
“This Day of Caring is an incredible opportunity for use to partner together to get some projects done and for some direct support on the ground for our programs to help our kids out,” said Jason McGee with the Hope Center for Kids.
The charities aren’t the only ones who benefit.
“It’s a way for them to be able to see first-hand where their dollars.. how it’s making an impact on those who need it most in this community, first-hand,” said Jill Samuelson from United Way of The Midlands.
The event is the organization’s largest day of service all year.
