UWM Supports Community Youth by Convening 40 Local Service Providers

In the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro area more than 8,000 individuals ages 16 to 24 years old are not connected to education or work – the very systems and institutions that will help them succeed. 1 The White House, Aspen Institute and others refer to these young adults as Opportunity Youth (OY). This term demonstrates optimism for the potential they represent in terms of the economy and future based on their energy, aspirations, optimism, resiliency and untapped talent. There are approximately 6.7 million OY in the United States, and there are over one million new OY annually.
