1,000 volunteers join United Way for a “Day of Caring”
OMAHA, Neb. —More than 1,000 volunteers showed up Friday for United Way of the Midlands’ 17th annual Day of Caring. The volunteers worked on a variety of projects throughout the metro.
United Way partnered with 44 nonprofits to provide volunteers. Dozens of companies were involved in providing the needed volunteers.
“A lot of times, nonprofit agencies don’t have the staff they need or the capacity to get everything done, so on this day, we’re really thankful that we can actually go out and help them catch up if they need it,” said Daniel Ohlman, from United Way of the Midlands.
United Way officials said participation this year is up from 2017 by about 200 volunteers.
