United Way of the Midlands to Help Distribute City ARPA Funds
United Way of the Midlands (UWM) is proud to announce it has been selected by the City of Omaha, and approved by the Omaha City Council, to administer $5 million from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Fiscal Recovery Fund.
UWM will distribute funds in categories that address basic needs including access to food and shelter, services for persons experiencing homelessness, access to health care, behavioral and mental health services, health promotion and education, financial literacy, and family support. The Omaha Community Foundation will administer $10 million in ARPA funds in categories including workforce development and violence intervention and prevention.
“United Way of the Midlands is honored to receive these funds and partner with the City of Omaha and the Omaha Community Foundation to help those in need in our community,” said Shawna Forsberg, president and CEO, United Way of the Midlands. “Together, focusing on what we each do best, we will ensure our neighbors have what they need to rebuild and recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and keep moving forward.”
To apply for ARPA funds from UWM, agencies must be located in a Qualified Census Tract, provide services to residents in a Qualified Census Tract, or demonstrate the pandemic has had a significant health or economic impact.
