OMAHA, Neb. — Omaha Public Schools and Omaha Public School Foundation were able to raise funds to buy 10,000 sets of hats, gloves and scarves for the district’s elementary students.
There was a line out out the door as families waited to pick winter weather garb to help keep their students warm during the next several months.
Marie Beery brought her three kids and they all left with a bag full of winter accessories.
“We just moved here from out of town so you know things are kind of tight and things like this, a lot of people need it especially in the cold,” Beery said.
This event is part of the district’s #Strivefor95 which focuses on keeping student’s attendance rate at 95 percent or higher.
