This Monday – More than 150 JAG Nebraska Students to Gather for Career Conference
Who: More than 150 JAG Nebraska students, representing 11 school districts from across the state.
Why: Through a partnership with the Nebraska Departments of Labor and Health and Human Services, school systems and private funders – and utilizing a model developed by the national Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) organization – JAG Nebraska is dedicated to empowering students with personal and professional development training and support to succeed in high school, further education and employment following graduation.
Since starting with three schools in 2019, JAG Nebraska has grown to serve 1,000 students at 24 middle and high school programs across the state. In this for-credit class elective, a certified JAG Career Specialist in each school provides individual attention and support to students through a program that equips them for success through hands-on instruction and learning experiences where they master a minimum of 37 and up to 87 core competencies identified by business and industry as essential to successful employment and positive outcomes in life.
What: This annual conference provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned in JAG classrooms across the state and celebrate their success! The Career Conference is designed to help students build a strong foundation of personal, leadership and employability skills to be better prepared for careers, higher education and advancement opportunities outside of the classroom. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with a number of potential employers, and they will participate in various activities such as public speaking, employability skills, financial literacy and JAG Nebraska trivia – with their accomplishments and achievements being recognized during an awards ceremony.
When: Monday, April 3, 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Where: Scott Conference Center (UNO campus)
6450 Pine St.
