MEDIA ALERT: October 25, 2023
Who: 160 JAG Nebraska students, representing 15 school districts from across the state.
Why: Founded in January 2019 as part of the national Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) program, JAG Nebraska is supported by United Way of the Midlands, in combination with government agencies and participating school districts. It is a for-credit classroom elective that helps students develop their skillsets to overcome the many challenges they face – all while setting them up for success in the classroom, workplace and life. JAG students build relationships with local employers, engage in project-based learning and develop a strong sense of civic and social responsibility – helping them graduate with a strong foundation to pursue further their education career opportunities.
Currently, 15 school districts across the state offer JAG Nebraska classes – and the program’s goal is to continue increasing capacity to serve more students through sustainable growth by expanding partnerships with school districts statewide.
What: This event is for JAG Nebraska students who were elected as President, Vice President or Secretary for their local student-led JAG Nebraska Career Association Chapter. Students will participate in team building activities and leadership development, along with learning basic event planning skills to prepare them to coordinate a local community service activity for students in JAG classes statewide. This event will also provide the opportunity for local officers to elect state officers who will have the opportunity to visit Washington, D.C. with JAG National in November 2023.
