The Omaha North High School National Art Honor Society is hosting Hotcakes @ Hotshops on Dec. 22 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is a student and faculty art show with original items for sale as well as a silent auction. The event will feature the Pancake Man and will be emceed by The Incorrigible Christina. The event costs $7 for adults and $6 for students.
NRC Health awarded Conrad Shiv and Nathan Netz with the 2018 Rising Stars Scholarship. Recipients received $2,000 to be applied toward their tuition and fees during the spring 2019 semester. Shiv is a senior accounting and marketing major and a member of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s College of Business, Business Honors Academy and Center for Sales Excellence. He is a founder of Builders Advisory, a workplace consultancy run by students. Netz is a junior finance and marketing major and a member of the CoB’s Center for Sales Excellence. He has held several leadership positions in Farmhouse Fraternity.
United Way of the Midlands partnered with Creighton University and Cobalt Credit Union to promote the Book Trust program during the Creighton University mens basketball game on Nov. 28. UWM facilitated a basketball-themed fundraising campaign on #Giving Tuesday to benefit Book Trust, a program that provides books to students within ten Title I schools across the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro. As part of this effort, 50 students enrolled in the Book Trust program and attended the game. Several students participated in the half-time promotion for Book Trust sponsored by Cobalt Credit Union where students had the opportunity to shoot baskets during the promotion.
