Lutheran Family Services to offer free parenting classes in the area

Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska will offer free parenting classes in Council Bluffs.

The Nurturing Parenting program will hold sessions from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays beginning Aug. 7 at the Pottawattamie County Center for Healthy Families at the Omni Centre Business Park, 300 W. Broadway.

The course is designed to empower individuals and families with new knowledge, beliefs, strategies and skills to make safe and healthy lifestyle choices and to adopt positive parenting behaviors, according to Lutheran Family Services. Research shows children who have strong bonds with their parents have better lifelong emotional health.

Susan Pawloski, center coordinator, has seen firsthand the transformation in parents who complete the classes.

“These moms and dads are learning some very powerful lessons on how to connect with their children and how to change their behavior in positive ways” she said.

The classes are free to participants, thanks to funding from Promise Partners and United Way of the Midlands. To access this program and other early childhood services, please contact the Child and Family Resource Network at 712-355-2615.
