UWM Emerging Leaders “Build the Shelves” Event – POSTPONED
Due to supply-chain issues, the United Way of the Midlands (UWM) Emerging Leaders “Build the Shelves” event scheduled for this Thursday, March 10, at Lothrop Magnet Center (3300 N. 22nd St.) has been postponed.
Once the event is rescheduled, the new date and additional information will be distributed via email, social media and the UWM website.
Funded by a grant from the HDR Foundation, the “Build the Shelves” event’s purpose is to give students the opportunity to select their own books and decorate bookshelves built by a group of volunteers from UWM’s Emerging Leaders and HDR. Many students, especially those from low-income families, have fewer or no books to read at home. Through this event, children will have the opportunity to create a home library by selecting their own books – and they’ll get a bookshelf where they can store them.
