Blue Collar Boxing Event Will Strengthen Local Community

The AFL-CIO and United Way of the Midlands will host their inaugural Blue Collar Boxing event on November 27, 2019 at the Baxter Arena beginning at 7 p.m.

During Blue Collar Boxing, 22 labor union members will face off in the boxing ring. Proceeds from Blue Collar Boxing will be donated to United Way of the Midlands and the Nebraska Center for Workforce Development and Education, empowering them to strengthen our local community.

The boxers hail from eight different local labor unions: IAFF Local 385, IATSE 42, IBEW 22, IBEW 1521, Insulators & Allied Workers Local 39, Ironworkers 21, Sheet Metal Workers Local 3 and Plumbers 16.

Tickets start at $20 and are available for purchase at bluecollarboxing.org.

United Way and the AFL-CIO have been partners since 1941. Their relationship is built upon their shared desire to better our local community. This is the first year United Way of the Midlands and the AFL-CIO have joined forces to host this amateur boxing match, which they anticipate becoming an annual event.
