Tomorrow – More than 500 Community Volunteers to Unite for UWM’s Day of Caring

Who: United Way of the Midlands (UWM) is hosting its annual Day of Caring volunteer event. In support
of the event, hundreds of volunteers will be rolling up their sleeves and getting to work helping
more than 35 nonprofit organizations across Douglas, Sarpy and Pottawattamie counties.
What: Day of Caring is a day of service where volunteers from the community spend their day helping local nonprofits fulfill a variety of needs – from yard work to painting and everything in between.
Employee teams from local companies, as well as individual volunteers, will participate in 68
volunteer projects across the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro.
Why: This event connects individuals and company employee teams with the needs that exist in
neighborhoods across our community. By participating, these volunteers strengthen the local
organizations that partner with UWM to make a difference in the metro area.
When: Friday, September 15, 2023
Where:

  • 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
    City Sprouts – 5420 N. 3rd Street, Omaha, NE 68110

    Volunteers will be working on various tasks in the gardens
  • 11 a.m. – Noon
    Completely KIDS – 2566 Saint Mary’s Ave, Omaha, NE 68105

    Volunteers will be helping clean-up the weekend food area
  • 1:15 – 2:15 p.m.
    Habitat for Humanity – 2420 2nd Avenue, Council Bluffs, IA 51503

    Volunteers will be assisting with construction projects
  • 3:15 – 4:15 p.m.
    Nebraska Diaper Bank – 9090 F Street, Omaha, NE 68127

    Volunteers will be sorting and wrapping diapers
