Local Labor Union Members Face Off in the Ring to Support our Community at Blue Collar Boxing Charity Event

The Omaha Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO and United Way of the Midlands will host their annual Blue Collar Boxing event on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at Liberty First Credit Union Arena in Ralston beginning at 7 p.m.

During Blue Collar Boxing, nearly 30 local labor union members will face off in the boxing ring. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the event will be donated to the Nebraska Center for Workforce Development and Education and United Way of the Midlands, empowering both organizations to strengthen our local community.

The competing boxers hail from 12 local labor unions: FOP Lodge 88 – Nebraska Protective Services Employees; IBEW 22 – Electricians; Local 385 – Firefighters, Labors 1140 – Laborers; Teamsters 554 – Transportation, Warehousing, Freight; Sheetmetal 3 – Sheet Metal; Iron Workers 21 – Iron Workers; Local 571 – Operating Engineers; Local 464 – Steamfitters and Plumbers; IUEC 28 – Elevators; IBEW 265 – Electricians; IBEW 763 – Electricians.

Tickets start at $25 and can be purchased at bluecollarboxing.org or the arena box office. The relationship between the AFL-CIO and United Way is built upon a mutual desire to create a better, stronger and more vibrant community. Partners since 1941, it’s that shared commitment to the Omaha-Council Bluffs community that led to the creation of this amateur boxing event in 2019.
