Sharing our work with students during Careerockit week

Our team had a wonderful time hosting students from Abraham Lincoln High School during Careerockit week!

Through Careerockit, which is an initiative out of the Greater Omaha Chamber, one week each year businesses across the metro invite students to learn more about local career opportunities. These experiences help inspire them as they begin to think about their futures and help them build connections with professionals who work in areas they might be interested in.

Different departments around our office came up with fun and interactive ways to give students a taste of the decisions and tasks we are faced with every day, and we had a lot of fun hearing their ideas and questions about our work.

Shonda in our Donor Engagement department came up with an activity that incorporated chemistry with some fundamental elements that are part of her job as the Director of Corporate Relations.

The Community Investment team had students participate in a Shark Tank investment activity where they broke out into groups and decided how they were going to invest donor dollars across four different giving areas.

The Marketing team gave students a marketing scenario where they came up with fundraising ideas to engage young donors for Omaha Gives and presented them.

Thank you so much to Abraham Lincoln students and staff for visiting our office and learning more about our work. We wish them all the best as they venture into college and careers!

We also want to share a special shoutout to the Greater Omaha Chamber for this opportunity to connect with young leaders in our community. If your business, nonprofit or school is interested in getting involved in Careerockit, click here to learn more.
